For the holidays, the project manager at work gave us these as a gift:

Which was super neat-o. Why? Because this isn’t just any water bottle. Notice it’s called the “Light Cap.” Because THE CAP LIGHTS UP. It’s so multifunctional-ly cool. But wait - there’s more! The light is powered by THE SUN. See the square at the top of the bottle? That’s a little mini-solar panel that stores solar energy. Then, see the little black thingy on the top? That’s a switch. Flip it one way and it’s a white light. Flip it the other it’s a red light. I used the water bottle today at my indoor soccer game (more on that in a ‘mo.) My teammates were intrigued. Also, the interior light in my car doesn’t work, so it helped on the way home from the game when my sister (also on the team) thought she dropped her keys back at the arena. We used the flashlight part to find them in my car.

For being a durable water bottle and a flashlight, it’s a good deal at $29.99, considering LED flashlights usually retail for 20 bucks and durable water bottles sell for 10 bucks.

Anyway, the other thing I like about it is that it’s a good water bottle with a tight lid and it holds 32 oz. of water. This was good because it meant it lasted throughout the entire soccer game tonight. We played a bunch of little whippersnappers (ages 17-21) again, and these ones were ruffians. My sister Chrissy was a like a bull out on the field, knockin’ down little chickies and throwin’ ‘bows. It was an aggressive game indeed. Even I got into it: I stuck my foot in the air and tripped the girl who pushed me from behind (a million times) when we both were battling for the ball and I fell. Later two of hooligan girls ran into my knee, which is now on fire. We ended up winning anyway. I think it’s because we had three strings. And, of course, because I was well hydrated.

I took Camara’s New York Tote with black, croc style leather trim to a sushi dinner with friends the other night. Me ‘n the tote had a grand old time gathering compliments.

First to comment was Erin, who liked its simple and sophisticated look and how it was not too big but not too small. But the best thing was her reaction when I told her the outside of the tote was made from recycled inner tubes.

“Wait, what?” she said.
“The tubing inside a tire,” I told her. “Feel it.”
Then she ran her hand down the smooth and soft surface.
“Oh. Okay…So does that mean you could use it as a life preserver if someone fell in the ocean? Like, ‘Oh help! I’m drowning!’ And then you could chuck your purse over the boat to save them?”
Erin is funny.

Next was Rene, who was enthused about finding the perfect phrase to describe it for the blog. She pondered while others commented. Vanessa wanted to know about different sizes and styles, so I told her about the Tri and the Uptown. Jenn wanted to know about different colors so I told her about the jewel toned non-leather trim and the indigo colored denim (my fave). The bag definitely peaked everyone’s fashion curiosity.

Overall, people were most impressed with the fact that the bag is made of recycled materials but doesn’t look like it at all. It just looks like a nice hand bag.

And then Rene summed it up for us by deeming it, “a perfect square of eco-chic-ness.”

Nice bum, where ya from? That’s what immediately came to mind last weekend as my wife o-so-gracefully stood up from her chair during a dinner party we hosted. After thinking about it, I realized it was not her bum that excited me so much but rather our new Spring Chair by Modern Bamboo her bum had just graced. Just look at those lines, smooth, graceful and aesthetically appealing from every angle… the chair that is.

This gorgeous piece of furniture is crafted from a single piece of plywood… FSC Certified of course. Bent ply is a relatively new style of design which eliminates the usual extra waste associated with traditional furniture making by using only minimal amounts of wood. So, if you every find yourself at my home and you think I am ogling your derriere… I am probably just admiring the chair.
